Flow broadband powers Jamaica Int’l Invitational

Kingston, Jamaica:  As some of the fastest athletes powered their way down the track for the 11th Jamaica International Invitational last weekend, organizers, media and patrons at the event, enjoyed the benefit of high speed internet from Flow.

“We are pleased to have Flow on board as the official telecommunications provider for the 2014 Jamaica International Invitational,” said Dr. Warren Blake, President of the Jamaica Athletics Administration Association (JAAA). “Flow’s broadband technology plays an important role in the staging of the meet by providing the internet connectivity that will enable speedy and timely communications of race results to the IAAF for ratification in real time as well as to power the electronic ticketing system giving patrons access to the National Stadium.”

Speaking at the launch of the Jamaica International Invitational, Donovan White, vice president sales and marketing for Columbus Communications Jamaica Limited, operators of the Flow brand, had  announced that the broadband service provider would be providing its Flow Unplugged WiFi service for patrons in the Grandstand at the National Stadium.

“One of the motivating factors comes from personal experience at the stadium and being unable to use data service,” said White. “We feel our service will play an integral role in the overall execution of the meet from a data and communications perspective. As the only fibre optic broadband network in the Caribbean we feel this is a great partnership and we look forward to be able to continue to work along with the organizing committee to expand the use of broadband communication for events such as this.”
